Epidemology Studies:

Incidence data according to particular populations and risk groups help provide information on:

  • Disease size
  • Co-morbidities
  • Trends in the disease
  • Burden of disease
  • Potential technology market size

Such information can also be further defined to target patients that are most ’at risk’ or may ‘best benefit’ from particularly programmes of care or treatment.

Epidemiological studies are often undertaken as part of a programme of activities to better understand the burden and implications of introducing new technologies. Such information is encouraged to support problem definitions in technology appraisals e.g. NICE suggest that such information should be provided during consultation within the scoping workshop.

Evicom work with a number of large databases across Europe and select those which are most appropriate to match the needs of our clients based on the quality of the information they provide.

Analyses are undertaken by experienced in-house epidemiologists and are linked closely with our statistical analysis unit.
